Caring Friends, Inc. has been involved in the following activities during the 2006-2007 year:
Working with Gulfton area elementary schools (95% free-lunch schools) to provide underwear, appropriate seasonal clothes, and blankets to those identified by school nurses and counselors as children and families in need.
Educating the Houston community via presentations by the Chiapas Project/Grameen Foundation about the Nobel Prize
winning success of micro-loans to women (with no capital) who support their families with basic necessities like clothing.
Partnering with CCSC Sunshine Resale Shop in support of gift certificates and clothes for those in need, including gift certificates at Christmas for those who had worked as day laborers but had not been paid.
Receiving clothes from families that are given to other non-profit distribution centers in the Gulfton area.
